One of the most common questions we get from prospective clients is some version of: "Should I build this on WordPress or do I need something custom?" It sounds simple. It isn't. Getting this decision wrong is expensive — in both directions.

The Short Answer

Build on WordPress when your primary need is content management and a presentable web presence. Build a custom web app when your business logic is the product.

Go with WordPress If...

  • You need a professional website you can update without a developer
  • Your site is primarily content: pages, blog, services, contact
  • You need it live fast (our WordPress builds take 5–7 days)
  • Your budget is under AUD 3,000 / Rp 10 juta
  • You're a villa, clinic, café, or professional service firm

Build Custom If...

  • Users need to log in and have accounts
  • There's business logic: bookings with rules, workflows, approval chains
  • You're handling money transactions with complex rules
  • You need real-time features: live availability, notifications, collaborative editing
  • Multiple user types with different permissions and views
  • You're building a product, not a website

The Five Questions We Ask Every Client

  1. Does a user need to log in?
  2. Does the site need to store and process user-specific data?
  3. Is there any booking, transaction, or workflow logic involved?
  4. Do different users see or do different things?
  5. Will this need to scale to thousands of users?

If you answered yes to two or more: custom. If no to all: WordPress almost certainly covers you.
